In 2014, as a member of the Transformations (Student Research and Creativity Conference) committee, I spearheaded the rebranding of the conference and integrated it into my courses for senior-level students. Students submit designs for a new logo, poster, program cover, and social media graphics. I work closely with Tony DeRado from the marketing office to select three designs to move forward to the committee. Once the winning design is chosen by the committee, I art-direct the student to follow specifications and submit files for Tony’s final approval.
This project has been successful for over 10 years, displaying our students’ talents on campus and giving them real-life experience. The selected designer working on the project gains a professionally-published piece for their portfolio, and others who submit can revise and use their design in their portfolio.
